Scottish Festivals Forum
Who We Are
The Scottish Festivals Forum is an umbrella body which exists to enhance communication between, and provide guidance and support to, the festivals of Music, Dance and Speech within Scotland that are affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals. Delegates from the festival committees attend two meetings each year, with Scotland-based adjudicators attending the May meeting. In this setting, current issues and concerns are examined, feedback on recent experiences is shared and ideas for future development are discussed.
Scotland has 14 affiliated Festival Committees who between them organise and run 14 festivals, all of which offer Music competitions [M], while 13 offer Speech competitions [S] and 9 offer Scottish Country Dance competitions [ND], 1 as a separate competition. These 15 festival events attract tens of thousands of entries from all sectors of the local community and 125 days of amateur performance opportunities each year.
Our meetings are always on Saturdays in Perth, currently in the Symphony Lovat Hotel, Glasgow Road. Delegates from all our festivals attend regularly, despite the huge distances some of them need to undertake. Meeting dates can be found in the Federation Year Book.
