South East Festivals Forum

The South East region had its inaugural meeting in May 1998 with the amalgamation of the Kent and East Sussex and the West Sussex and Surrey regions. Since then we have also incorporated five of the festivals contained in the former London region.

We have a wide diversity of festivals in the area, ranging from single discipline festivals running over one or two weekends to multi discipline festivals running every day over a two week period. The oldest festivals have been in existence for over 100 years and the newest have been running for five years or less.

Two of our festivals hold prestigious piano festivals and several others hold Young Musician competitions, giving the winners a chance to perform with the local orchestras or receive private coaching sessions with top professional musicians. Some of the Dance festivals give bursaries to help with training costs for young dancers. Both finalists and the winners of the BBC Young Musician of the Year have participated in our local festivals.

Festivals in the South East region are as follows and their full details can be found by following the Festival map link on the home page or using the A to Z listings of Festivals.
