Child performance licensing legislation has been causing significant problems for our member festivals over the past 2 years. The legislation is being inconsistently applied across the local authority areas which is leading to uncertainty and confusion. In some areas, the requirements of the local authority are creating a heavy administrative burden for festival organisers and could affect the long-term viability of festivals in the future.
Under the umbrella of the Music Education Council, BIFF along with Making Music, Music Mark, ABO, Music for Youth, ISM and Brass Bands England have put together a survey to explore the experiences of our respective members.
The purpose of the survey is to collect data on the scale of the problem, and the impact it is having on opportunities for children and young people to participate in performing arts at a local, regional
and national level.
