Wensleydale Tournament of Speech and Song

Our competitive Festival of music and the spoken word was founded in Leyburn, North Yorkshire in 1898 by the Hon. Lucien Orde-Powlett, son of Lord Bolton. It is held in March or April each year with the objective of encouraging the performance of good music and literature and to afford competitors the opportunity of having their performance marked by professional adjudicators. Many comments are received on the relaxed, friendly atmosphere and high standard of performance throughout the Festival.
