As you are probably aware, there will be no physical Festival this year. We have however put together some “virtual performances” by former competitors. These will be introduced by talks by musicians who might normally be adjudicating our festival, with tips on practising, and what they look for in a performance. I am sure that you will find these of great interest, and will enjoy the music. The groups of performances will be released on You Tube at 7pm on the following dates:-
5/3 - Tim Ridley + Strings/Piano
6/3 - Frikki Walker + Singing
7/3 - Kay Tucker + Strings
8/3 - Amanda Cook + Guitars
9/3 - Kathryn Page + Pianos
10/3 - Heather Yule + Harp + Accordions
11/3 - Kay Tucker + Strings
12/3 - Ian Wilson + Woodwind
13/3 - Kathryn Page + Pianos
14/3 - Gordon Bragg + 15 minute Recital Winners
They will be available on our You Tube channel until the end of April. You will be able to access this by going to our:-
Website (www.ecfest.org.uk),
Facebook page (facebook.com/ecfestuk) or
Twitter (@edcompfest) .
Please let pupils and parents know about this.
We very much look forward to seeing you and your entrants at next year’s Edinburgh Music Competition Festival which will be held from 1st to 13th March 2022. (The concerto competition first round will be on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd January.)
The Festival is open to amateur musicians of all ages from beginners to advanced players and singers. The syllabus for 2022 will be available in late summer.
Yours sincerely,
