Worcester Competitive Arts Festival aims to give amateur musicians, actors, writers and composers the opportunity to perform in a friendly and supportive environment. The festival is open to everyone, with classes for all ages and abilities (including adults) in music (including classical, jazz and rock/pop), musical theatre, drama, prose, poetry, writing and composition. The majority of festival classes take place over several weekends in March at venues in and around Worcester. There are also some online classes to encourage participation from individuals from further afield who may not be able to make the festival in person. Medals and trophies are awarded to the winners of competitive classes and winners may also be invited to perform at the festival concert. We have introduced many non-competitive performance classes in recent years, which also prove very popular. This year, we will also be hosting workshops for all ages, including musical theatre performance, short story writing and poetry.
We welcome anyone, of any age, from anywhere, who wants to take part! Whether it is your first festival experience or you are a seasoned veteran, we would love to see and hear you perform. We do not believe any talented performer should miss out on competing at the festival because of financial concerns. Please contact us to discuss how we may be able to help in cases of genuine financial hardshop.
There is so much more to discover! The Festival has been running since 1951. Many previous young competitors now return as teachers or parents. Everyone involved in running the festival is a volunteer. We welcome anyone who would like to lend a hand. Please contact us for more information.
